Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Extra Protection for Your Asfaly Digital Vault
Your password protects access to your digital vault, but a password alone is no longer enough. To strengthen the security of your Asfaly account, you can use two-factor authentication, also known as 2FA.
The idea is simple: after entering your password, Asfaly asks for a second piece of proof to confirm it’s really you. This second step can take different forms: a code generated by an app, a notification on your phone, a security key, or, depending on the options available, a code sent by text message.
Even if someone managed to figure out your password, they’d still be missing this second step to get into your vault.
How does 2FA work with Asfaly?
When you turn on two-factor authentication, Asfaly links your account to your security method. From your very first sign-in:
- you enter your email address and password;
- Asfaly asks for your second authentication method;
- you use your app, your security key, or whichever method you chose;
- access to your digital vault is authorized.
The goal is to avoid relying on a password alone to protect particularly sensitive information.
Authenticator apps
An authenticator app generates temporary security codes directly on your phone. These codes change regularly and are used when signing in to your account.
Google Authenticator is one of the apps that offers this. It’s easy to use and can also help protect many other online services. The app is free, and you can download it on your Android or iOS device. You can use it without an account, but linking your Google account lets you sync your codes across your different devices.
That said, you don’t have to use Google Authenticator — several other apps work in a similar way.

Other apps There are many other apps compatible with time-based authentication codes. You’re free to choose whichever app you like, as long as the service supports that type of 2FA.
What matters most is picking a reliable solution and carefully keeping track of whatever you’ll need to recover access if something goes wrong.
Security built for what Asfaly holds
Asfaly isn’t just a storage space. It can hold the information your loved ones will need to find their way through your digital life after you’re gone — online accounts, email addresses, social media, subscriptions, or anything else you’ve chosen to pass on.
That’s why protecting access to your vault matters so much. 2FA adds an extra barrier between your information and anyone who might get hold of your password.
Your password guards the door. 2FA adds a second lock.
